The Great Cloth Diaper Change is a yearly gathering for cloth diapering families around the world... and oh boy is it fun! Cloth for Everybum has hosted a GCDC event for the last 4 years and it has become a great fundraising event for us as well as a time to show off our success to our communities. We love meeting future recipients and catching up with graduates. This year's Great Cloth Diaper Change is this Saturday, April 22nd at 11am local time. If you are a cloth diapering family or are curious to learn more about cloth diapering, find a GCDC near you and let your life changing journey begin! We will join together and change our babies into 100% reusable cloth diapers and beat the world record for the most cloth diapers changed! There are always prizes, giveaways, sales, and raffles.
The three GCDC events linked above are being hosted by Cloth for Everybum sites. You can find other GCDC locations here.
The Great Cloth Diaper Change is the brain child of the Real Diaper Association. They are an organization committed to spreading knowledge and tips regarding all things reusable cloth diapers.

See you Saturday!!!
Today I made my second cloth diaper cake! I think they are most adorable baby shower decoration imaginable... Don't you agree?!
So here is the how to:
You're going to need the following cloth diapers and accessories:
24 newborn prefolds
4 newborn or size 1 covers
4 newborn fitteds
4 newborn sized all-in-ones or pockets with inserts
2 skin safe inserts
1 pail liner
1 wet bag
Samples or small containers of cloth diaper safe detergent, rash cream and/or stain remover.
A couple of rolls of coordinating ribbon and any little decorations to add to the ribbon.
30 or so rubber bands
Hot glue gun and 1 or less glue stick
You will need to fold each prefold and roll it up. Fold the thinner sides into the middle and roll so it is short and round. Secure with rubber band. Do this a million times until all 24 prefolds are rolled. Then roll the fitteds and add the cover around it as pictured. You will need to roll two of the all-in-ones/pockets as well. The AIOs I used are hook and loop so I didn't use rubber bands. I rolled them from front to back and used the tabs to close it.
Now that you have all the pieces rolled, you can begin to assemble the cake's foundation. The inner most circle is comprised of a prefold and a skin safe insert. The middle circle is 8 prefolds. I used a rubber band to secure this circle to make gathering all 25 pieces easier. The outer circle will be the remaining prefolds. I used a piece of plastic ribbon, like balloon ribbon, to get a good tight tie around the outer circle.
For the topper of the cake I folded a wet bag bottom to top leaving a few inches between the two ends. Then I folded it in a zig zag pattern to get the fanned look on top. I folded a pail liner top to bottom like 4 or 5 times to make it long and skinny. I then rolled it around the bottom of the folded wet bag and used a rubber band to keep it that way. I did not take a picture of this step. Sorry!!! This combo makes the center of the top layer.
The 4 cover/fitted and 2 AIO rolls will make the outer circle around the pail liner. I put a rubber band around all of this.
Now its time to get creative! You can use one or two layers of ribbon to cover the rubber bands. I got ribbon to match the theme of the shower or you could get ribbon to match the theme of the cloth diapers being used. I used hot glue to fix the the ribbon around the middle of each layer directly on top of the rubber bands. For the top layer ribbons, I attached the thicker ribbon around the layer of the cake and laced the thinner ribbon through the last two AIOs and then attach it around the center of the top layer with hot glue. Use what's left of your creative juice to place the snappi, decorations, and samples.
I hope this inspires you! Show me your creations!
Buy a diaper, give a diaper... or two!
After months of dreaming and weeks of planning, our retail store is now open! We have many brands of quality cloth diapers and accessories ready to ship or pick-up. Just like our kits, our store offers a variety of diapers to meet every family's needs.
The unique quality about our store is every product you buy will directly benefit a family in need. Our products will provide about 40% profit to go towards purchasing and shipping cloth diaper kits to recipient families across the country. That's a great return on investment! Our volunteers work to build kits, educate families, further the program and collect donations. Your money will not only benefit your family with quality cloth diapers, but it will be used to bring other families to cloth and insure their success with our lending and mentoring program.
Is there a product you love and would like to see in our store? Comment or send us a message and we will see about getting it for you!
To celebrate our grand opening we are including a BunchaFarmers Stain Stick in every order placed through the end of February. We love natural products that work great and these stain sticks top that list! They are great for tough stains on diapers and on clothes without the harsh effects of chemicals. Give one a try and let us know how much you love them as well!
As always, we beg you to share us with your friends. We want to use our funds to benefit families, not advertising. Talk about us on social media, send applicants our way, and support us with your giving. We TOTALLY understand that families with small children are usually tight on funds and giving to something that isn't directly benefiting them isn't even an option. Liking, commenting and sharing us on social media is free for you and a HUGE help to us. When our followers don't take actions on our posts, facebook and instagram will bury them making it almost impossible for us to be seen by the casual social media user. Give us a like when you see our posts and save us the $70 advertisements! Easy peasy!
Shop and Give!
We are now a preferred charity on Amazon Smile. You can shop through Amazon Smile and Amazon will give a portion of your order total to us! Amazon Smile is just like "regular" Amazon and your shopping experience will be no different. The only difference will be that you shop through smile.amazon.com. Any orders placed through amazon.com will not benefit us. I have compiled a tutorial for making the switch to Amazon Smile on your computer and mobile devices.
On your computer...
On your mobile devise...
Thank you for your support! We hope this will be another great way for our supporters to engage and benefit our program! Let us know when you have placed an Amazon Smile order!
In love and giving,
There's a lot I could say to build up the amazing news I have to share, when all that really matters is this:
SHIPPED KITS ARE NOW FREE!!!!!!
We have an amazing sponsor that has covered a ton of operating expenses for us and we can now invest in our two main goals for 2017; our shipped kit program and retail store!
I am just so stinking excited to share this news with all of our recipients and supporters! We will now be able to help EVERYONE across this great country! Our shipped kits program is our way of reaching all families, regardless of income, who wish to try cloth diapers and receive experienced support. We do require a security deposit that is 100% refunded upon returning the complete undamaged kit. If you or a loved one is ready to try cloth diapers but doesn't know where to start; try our lending program.
We have local distributions happening now in El Paso, TX and Atlanta, GA. Local kit distributions have been, and always will be, no cost to our recipient families. Our shipped kits are available to any family in the continental USA that do not currently own cloth diapers. Until now, we had to pass along the cost of shipping the kits to our families but that has all changed because of a very kind sponsor family.
We are not your typical cloth diaper bank... We are a lending program that teaches families exactly how to use and care for their cloth diapers. We include a variety of cloth diapers in our kits so families can decide what works best for their lifestyle. We allow six months of free diapers so that families can save and invest their hard earned money into diapers that will work and that they know how to use. We pair each family with an experienced mentor that will guide and celebrate through the family's obstacles and successes. We do not exclude families because of financial reasons. There is no government assistance prerequisite for our program. The ONLY qualifier is that the family does not currently own more than five usable cloth diapers. We understand that families need support beginning the journey of cloth diapering for many reasons aside from financial.
Please help us share this great news! Share this blog post. Tag your Facebook friends on our page. Shout it from your rooftop (we cannot be held liable). Do whatever you need to do spread the word!
In love and giving,
One of my favorite parts of living in north Georgia is having four seasons to enjoy every year. Along my walk through life I've also learned to enjoy the seasons that have become my story. You have to "know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em". There are times we sit by and wait and times we lovingly close a door and move on. Why am I telling you this? Cloth for Everybum has also had its share of seasons and we are upon yet another season change.
Cloth for Everybum (C4EB) began in 2011 serving military families in south Georgia. It was a great success and we grew to service the surrounding community as well. By 2013 we had gained our 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization status and we had sites in Atlanta, Savannah, and Hinesville, GA. We continued to grow through 2014 with sites across the country distributing kits to local families, hosting public 101 classes and events in their communities. In 2015 our headquarters was split between California and Virgina as our new directors were relocated. In 2016 we launched a new facet to our organization, the shipped kits program, where we ship kits to families across the country where our sites do not reach.
So what could possibly happen in 2017?! Well, we can come full circle and bring our headquarters back to Georgia! Christina and Katelyn have stepped down as directors but are staying on as volunteers and board members. I, Marianna Slaughter and Atlanta Site Manager, am stepping into the Executive Director role. Just as I needed loyal volunteers for the Atlanta site, I will have my long time right arm, Cindy as Operations Director.
What changes will be seen in 2017? The answer is MORE! More, kits, more classes, more help, more mentors, more sales, more giveaways, more events, more everything! Our goal is to reach more families this year than ever before and we will need you (yes you!) to make it happen. Please like us on social media, share our posts and pages, volunteer to help, and if you can support us with giving.
We hope you will stay in touch with us as we share more with you in the next few weeks and launch an online community for all families.
Thank you for your time, love and support!
Marianna Slaughter lives in the Atlanta area with her husband and 3 children. After cloth diapering her 3 children and leading C4EB for 3 years, she is fully equipped to share advice on all things cloth diapers!
